Mustang Mach-E Trims Explained: Select vs. Premium vs. GT
Choosing the right Mustang Mach-E comes down to balancing three factors: range, luxury features, and raw performance. Whether you need an efficient daily commuter for the Memphis loop or a high-performance EV that lives up to the Mustang badge, there is a specific trim built for your needs.
What is the difference between Mach-E trims?
The main differences between Mustang Mach-E trims lie in battery capacity, interior technology, and motor output:
- Select: The entry-level model. Excellent value, standard range battery, and essential tech features. Ideal for daily commuting.
- Premium: The luxury and distance upgrade. Offers the Extended Range battery option, upgraded B&O audio, panoramic glass roof, and faster charging capabilities.
- GT: The performance flagship. Features dual electric motors, extreme acceleration (0-60 in under 4 seconds), sport suspension, and aggressive styling.
Mach-E Select: The Smart Commuter
The Select trim proves you don't have to empty your wallet to get a premium EV experience. It comes equipped with everything a Memphis driver needs for daily driving and standard road trips.
- Standard Range Battery (Standard)
- RWD or eAWD available
- 15.5-inch SYNC 4A touchscreen
- Ford BlueCruise equipped (hands-free highway driving)
- ActiveXâ„¢ synthetic seating material
Mach-E Premium: The Sweet Spot
The Premium trim is the most popular model on our Landers Ford lot. It upgrades the cabin materials, adds high-end comfort features, and unlocks the ability to equip the Extended Range battery.
- Available Extended Range Battery (Up to 300+ miles of range)
- B&O® Sound System by Bang & Olufsen (10 speakers)
- Panoramic Fixed-Glass Roof
- Heated front row seats and heated steering wheel
- 19-inch machined-face aluminum wheels
Mach-E GT: Pure Electric Muscle
If you are buying a Mach-E because it has a pony on the grille, the GT is the answer. It sacrifices a small amount of range in exchange for blistering off-the-line acceleration and track-ready handling.
- Upgraded eAWD Dual Motors (High torque output)
- 0-60 MPH in under 4.0 seconds (GT Performance Edition is even faster)
- MagneRide® Damping System (Performance Edition)
- Ford Performance front seats
- 20-inch gloss black-painted aluminum wheels
How to Choose the Right Battery: Standard vs. Extended
Regardless of trim, your biggest decision is the battery.
The Standard Range battery is perfect if you have a Level 2 charger at home. You will wake up every day with 200+ miles of range, which is vastly more than the average daily driver needs.
The Extended Range battery (available on Premium, standard on GT) is for buyers who frequently drive to Nashville, Little Rock, or beyond. It provides more buffer between charging stops and charges slightly faster at DC Fast Charging stations.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Mach-E GT have less range than the Premium?
Yes. Because the GT uses its battery to power larger, more aggressive electric motors for maximum performance, its overall range is slightly lower than a Premium model equipped with the same Extended Range battery.
Can I get the panoramic glass roof on the Select trim?
No, the panoramic fixed-glass roof is standard on the Premium and GT trims, but it is not available on the entry-level Select trim.
Which Mach-E trim charges the fastest?
Any Mach-E equipped with the Extended Range battery (Premium or GT) can accept a higher peak charging rate at DC Fast Charging stations compared to the Standard Range battery, allowing you to add miles quicker during road trips.
What is the Mach-E Rally?
The Mach-E Rally is a specialized trim designed for dirt roads and light off-roading. It features a lifted suspension, rally-inspired wheels, underbody shielding, and a unique driving mode for loose surfaces.
